Happy Navrati!!!
Navratri is an a Hindu festival observed in the honor of goddess Durga.
It lasts for 9 days and celebrated in different ways all over India.
Gujarati’s (my peeps) celebrate through dance.
As a kid we use to go all 9 days irregardless of school and extracurricular commitments.
My kids have gone twice but don’t really remember much.
They had so much fun last night and made a true effort to learn the steps so they could participate.
Om (my little guy) did require some bribery of yummy food and treats.
It’s all good, whatever it takes to motivate them.
I‘m making a conscious effort this season to embrace our culture.
It’s not perfect to grow up as a first generation Indian American but I had so much to be grateful for in experiencing my heritage.
Now I get to embrace what I love, choose what I want to pass on to the next generation and leave the rest behind.
So grateful for the gift of coaching. I give credit to my coaches and myself for embracing a new way of living……… true authenticity and freedom.
It’s not easy to stay within what was expected of me and NOW choose differently.
But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.
We don’t need to feel stuck in our lives, we can all choose live in a way that feels aligned with who we really are.
